Strategic innovation: Leveraging and leading innovation ecosystems

Innovation is a core element for companies to build and maintain competitive advantages. In this session we will build a common knowledge base on the key challenges that strategic innovation brings. We will address the distinction between exploitative and exploratory innovation, discuss the specifics of low-end disruptive innovation and address the core elements of open innovation. We will then use this knowledge base to conduct a comprehensive discussion on best practices for addressing key innovation challenges. In the past, we have relied on the methodology of Serious Lego Play, an idea tool that helps to gain experience-based insights into concepts, challenges and solutions.

learning goals:

  • Acquisition of a language that can help you to initiate or support strategic innovation discussions in your company.
  • Learn how other companies deal with key strategic challenges of innovation.
  • Consider how specific best practices can be applied in the context of your own company.
